SSC Stenographer Syllabus & Exam pattern

SSC Stenographer is an All India Level Examination conducted annually to recruit eligible candidates for Stenographer Grade C and Grade D non-gazetted posts in various government ministries, departments and offices. The exam has two phases: Written Test and Skill Test.

Candidates who perform well in written test are called for SSC Stenographer Skill Test. There are three sections in the SSC Stenographer question paper. Candidates have to answer questions from all the three sections: general awareness, reasoning and English language. Candidates will have to clear both stages in order to become eligible for the document verification round.

Aspiring candidates should have complete knowledge of the SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern and Syllabus as without thorough understanding they won’t be able to prepare well for the exam. SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2022

The SSC Stenographer Applications will be accepted from 20th August 2022 till 5th September 2022 and the exams will be held in the month of November 2022. Candidates will be selected through a two-tier selection process. Tier I will be a Computer Based Test and Tier II will be a shorthand skill test.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern-

Note:-

• Total duration for CBT-1 is 2 Hours
• Skill Test Grade C: 40 Minutes(English) & 55 Mins (Hindi)
• Skill Test Grade D: 50 Minutes(English) & 65 Mins (Hindi)

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for Tier I-

SSC Stenographer Tier I comprises 200 questions in total with the maximum marks being 200. The duration of Tier I is 2 hours. SSC Stenographer Tier I is divided into three sections namely General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language.

Note:-

• 1 mark will be given for every correct answer.
•  0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response by the candidate.
• No marks will be awarded/deducted for unattempted questions.

SSC Stenographer Tier-1 Syllabus of General Awareness–

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern for Tier II–

The Tier II Exam is for those who qualify for the Tier I CBT Exam. Tier II will be a skill test where candidates will first have to write a passage on any given topic in 10 minutes at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. After that candidates will transcribe the same on the computer within the allotted time. We have shared both the time and exam pattern for writing the dictation as well for transcribing the dictation.

• The language of the dictation (passage writing) will be both English and Hindi.
• Candidates will have to select the preferred language while filling out the form. 
• Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment.
• The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or at other Centre(s) as may be decided by the Commission.
• The Skill Test will be qualifying in nature.

SSC Stenographer Syllabus for Skill Test: Tier II–

Only the qualified candidates of SSC Stenographer CBT test will be capable to appear for the Shorthand Skill Test. The aspirants will be provided a passage of 800 words and 1000 words for Grade D and Grade C respectively.
